ABOUT US & FAQ
Our newborn sessions are completely "baby led". This can mean that some of our sessions can last up to 4.5 hours. We are not shooting for this entire duration. What we do allow is for baby to let us know how they are feeling. If baby is hungry, wet or simply needs some cuddle time...we always allow for that to happen first. A comfortable, and well tended newborn will allow us to capture those sleepy gorgeous natural photos! We can even capture some alert photos as long as baby is content.
For most other bookings you can expect your session to last approximately one hour in length (depending on the number of people being photographed in the session, age of subjects, etc..).
- Younger children and babies tire easily so it is always best to plan your session at a time when children are well rested and fed.
- Please feel free to bring whatever you need to make your children comfortable to the session.
- New mothers are always encouraged to nurse their infants whenever needed and take as much time as is needed to keep little ones content and at ease.
As a mother of four, and CAPPA trained Postpartum Doula, I completely understand the absolute need for patience and a feeling of comfort in order to capture those beautiful moments.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- What are your studio hours?
-
Newborn sessions are always scheduled on weekdays exclusively at 10am. Maternity, Family and all outdoor Milestone Sessions are scheduled during "golden hour" (the hour or so just prior to sunset). There is some flexibility on this time depending on the location we have chosen to shoot at! All other in studio sessions are photographed at a time that is convenient for everyone (generally right after nap time for little ones when they are at their happiest during the day).
- Where are you located?
-
Blink of an Eye Photography is conveniently located in Milton, Ontario....just a 30 minute drive from downtown Toronto OR downtown Hamilton. Nestled on the beautiful Niagara Escarpment in Halton Region, we have access to many stunning natural locations for outdoor sessions.
- When should I plan to book my session?
-
Maternity Sessions are typically booked with our studio whenever mama is feeling well and how she would like to showcase her beautiful growing baby bump. Many women opt for right around the 30-34 week mark as they are well into the third trimester, morning sickness is (hopefully) a thing of the past and baby bump is nicely along and showing beautifully.
Newborn sessions are booked (tentatively) for one week from baby's expected due date. This is of course flexible provided that a session fee of $150 +HST has been made. For the best results, we do prefer to have newborns in sometime between 5-18 days postpartum.
Family and Milestone sessions can be booked whenever is optimal.
- How long is an average session?
-
Maternity and Family and Milestone sessions all take approximately one hour from start to finish (depending on location selected for the shoot). Sometimes we do end up goofing around a bit and end up having more fun than expected...hence sessions can take a little longer!
Newborn sessions have absolutely no time limit/restriction on them. In our studio we always tend to baby's needs first. If baby is breastfeeding, they may be cluster feeding during the day they are in. Baby may be recovering from jaundice or even tongue tied requiring feeding times to take a little longer. All of this is perfectly normal and we encourage Mom's (and Dad's) to take their time tending to baby's needs. On average, our newborn sessions take approximately 3.5 hrs. but can stretch as long as 5hrs. We do have a nicely stocked snack bar complete with espressos, juices, water and tea, but encourage families to bring any extra food they might wish to have on hand.
- What payment options do you accept?
-
Our studio accepts all major credit cards and/or e-transfers/cash. We do not accept Interac/debit cards at this time.
- Do you have a cancellation policy?
-
We will always do our best to make accommodations to reschedule your session whenever possible. However once the session deposit has been made, it is considered non refundable.
